In today's home computer industry, the flight simulator games are quite well known for their notorious retail prices, especially with the professional versions from the likes of Microsoft. But there are some older simulators now available that, although not as updated, are as good as the rest. A fine example of this is Flight Unlimited 2 for PC. First of all, as a 1997 game, the visuals aren't quite up to scratch when compared to today's technological achievements. Nevertheless, it does look quite lovely. Before playing a quick game, you have the opportunity to customise several playing conditions. Choosing a plane to fly is perhaps the most popular one, obviously. But you can also customise levels of fog, rain, cloud, and even cloud height. Setting the time of day can make flying matters much more interesting. Perhaps the most spectacular visual effect throughout the entirety of the game is the in-flight rain conditions. Here, as in life, you will be able to see little beads of water inching their way to the end of the screen. It's like the pane of glass is actually there, like an optical illusion. Unless you have a decent controller for a game of this type, Flight Unlimited 2 will not perform well. Simply pressing a few keys on the keyboard does not do the game justice. Analogue control is essential. With photo-realistic landscapes and a huge number of well-known craft to fly, including the Piper Arrow and the Havilland Beaver Seaplane, Flight Unlimited 2 has plenty of great gameplay to offer.
