Heart of Darkness, Desktop Computer
Heart of Darkness is the movie equivalent of a thriller, only it's for PlayStation. This chiller/adventure title revolves around the nasty place that is the World Of Darkness. You get to take on the role of Andy, a teenaged kid accompanied by his dog Whisky, who accidentally makes his way onto the evil planet. From the first instance the nasty little demon critters are after you. Controlled by the Master of Darkness you are almost defenceless, armed only with some kind of weak laser beam. There is an innovative addition here, whereby the element of surprise is greatly improved. Many devils are actually portrayed in the shadows of other objects. Basically, if you touch the shadow, you're dead; you only have one chance. Fortunately, you get the chance to continue as many times as you want, making this game a case of trial and error, a-la-Oddworld. The visuals are improved here as there is a great blend of static screens mixed with small FMV cut scenes, greatly improving the realism of a non-3D title. Heart Of Darkness is essentially as platform puzzler, and such titles will generally last for a long time. Be weary.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos TheoryA best-selling novelist whose books have been the subject of many a Hollywood blockbuster, Tom Clancy now seems to like nothing as much as the array of storytelling options offered by video games. The Entente: World War 1 BattlefieldsAs popular as the RTS game is, it cannot be argued that there are far too many games like this that are based on a single global event - namely, World War II. There are literally hundreds of them littering high street shelves, and they can sometimes get a bit monotonous. So it comes as a change to see a game based on the other harsh lesson of the 20th century, World War I. And that's what GMX's Th...
