Summoner, Desktop Computer
The role-playing game is a genre that has had a mixed reception from some gaming quarters. Although its a hardcore genre, and not to everybody's taste, the diversity of these games within this field of entertainment is great. Ranging from Phantasy Star to Final Fantasy, and now to Summoner on PC, each RPG game should be treated individually and should not be stereotyped. Summoner takes aspects of the point-and-click game, and places itself in an enhanced 3D environment. The Summoners of this volatile world have been praised for their magical abilities, but they are also feared for their evident capabilities for destruction. Those in possession of the Summoner's ring can call forth demons, elementals and dragons to wreak havoc on the enemy. But as a consequence, only the strongest can control such powerful creatures. This epic story is typical of a role-playing game, it has to be said, but that's not to say the game is lacking in originality and innovation. Summoner is played in the third person, taking place in full 3D environments that are bursting with realism and detail. Typically, you will find yourself challenged in the middle of a dying battlefield to begin with. Fortunately for inexperienced players, a tutorial option has been built into the game. Here, you will perfect your physical combat skills and master the art of magic. Hit points, magic points and other various statistics are naturally present, and increasing your character's level can only be achieved through defeating enemies and bosses, of which there are plenty. There is a lot to do in Summoner, and the prospect of reaching an ultimate character level of 100 will make the longevity of the game apparent. Good luck.
