In a complete turnaround of scary movie rules, Empire's Ghost Master pits players on the side of the ghouls as they attempt to exile mere mortals and take the world for themselves. Developed by the bizarrely named Sick Puppies, it's a game inspired by B-movie blunders that charges players with the task of harnessing supernatural powers for what is effectively human cleansing. In Ghost Master, players do not assume control of a single ghost in a solo bid to frighten the living daylights out of the human race - they control all ghosts, spirits and other supernatural beings. But to do this, you must harness a psychic energy known as plasma. This will enable you to summon such creatures, thus, scaring the human population away. Once summoned, spirits will unleash all manner of attacks upon the living, and there are plenty of Ghostbuster-esque special effects to keep you playing. There are eleven distinctive locations in all that accommodate 15 unique adventures, all with multi-branching scenarios in a complete virtual world. Environments include city asylums, military bases, frat houses and a police station, and your objectives within each area of the game vary. Also, a sophisticated in-game camera lets you view the action from either a human or ghost's perspective. Ghost Master is also one of the most accessible games for the PC platform. It abandons complex manuals in favour of an in-game tutorial that teaches you everything you need to know - very useful for kids. All in all though, it's a refreshing adventure that takes a welcome step away from the norm.
