American McGee's Alice, Desktop Computer
Prepare to slip through the looking glass as you dip into the twisted nightmare that is Alice on the PC. American Mcgee rose to gaming stardom through his time spent working at ID Software helping program games like Quake! His level design was devilishly brilliantly, thoroughly thought out and a testament to his talent. American and Rouge Entertainment have joined together to bring you this pleasantly disturbing 3D adventure. Alice has a somewhat disturbed mind, her family having been burned to death helped put her into a mental asylum. Stories of an alternative reality through a mirror didn't help to convince people she was normal. Wonderland needs her help, it's time to meet the Mad Hatter again, no time to be late. The fate of Wonderland is in your hands. The Queen awaits. Alice plays and looks beautiful, it runs smooth and fluid utilising a modified Quake 3 engine but with third-person perspective. Graphically, some parts of the game are like works of art, and the music is suitably disconcerting. There is a sharp but balanced blend of puzzle solving, platform negotiation and action sequences. The enemies in the game are ruthless and fearless, it will take practice and skill to become proficient at disposing with them. Alice is an atmospheric game with a great storyline that gradually unfolds as you make progress. For the sake of atmosphere, we recommended you play this game late at night with the lights off. Alice is a difficult game, but that works in its favour. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, to play on the PC, Alice deserves checking out, delivering as it does, a unique mix of 3D Adventure, platform and puzzle action.
