Europa Universalis, Desktop Computer
Global domination is something that no one in the real world has yet accomplished, and the title will probably always go unused. To compensate all the country-greedy citizens out there, Europa Universalis was produced, courtesy of Paradox Entertainment. While its world maybe virtual, this outing into warfare should prove more exhilarating than anything you could accomplish in reality. Before beginning a game you should take the opportunity to have a look in the options menu, since all the major features of the game are fully customisable. The basics of the game entice the player into a challenge to dominate as many global countries as possible. Generally, you begin in a single country, and from there on in you must learn to populate your land with army's and the likes before challenging a neighbouring county and country. Giving Europa a sense of perspective as regards to its size, there over ninety countries and in excess of 800 named provinces. The whole world isn't up for grabs, but there are several countries available from most continents, and a full library of European countries. Since Europa is a game of strategy and gameplay, the game does not visually impress, and tends to show more geographical maps than anything else. Those of you looking for an epic challenge can choose to tackle the Grand Campaign that takes over 300 years of game time to complete. Thankfully, your playing time can be speeded up in the options menu. Europa also offers a multi-player option in which up to seven of your friends can participate. It is much more satisfying to defeat a real player, and it's this option that makes Europa and pleasure to play.
