Ubi Soft's foray into the video games industry began to make its greatest impact when the first Rayman game was released. Ever since, the company, both as a developer and publisher, has continued to release games that cover a broad range of genres. Now delving into the field of real-time strategy (RTS), and with the help of MASA (Mathematiques Appliquees SA) Ubi Soft give us Conflict Zone for PC. To begin with, players must choose their side on this global political war. Should you work for the ICP (International Corps for Peace) you will be working primarily for the good of mankind. But if you side with GHOST, a shadow organisation hellbent on bringing the world into conflict, your mission will be much more fun and equally challenging. As an exception to the genre, Conflict Zone incorporates several other playing aspects that are vital to the game and are rarely seen in any other RTS game. Aside from combat, Conflict Zone is also about politics, the media and public opinion. As you progress through the game, you will discover that the media is vital to the funding of your military assaults. As a combat game, missions take place in a variety of stunningly rendered locations that have been developed in full 3D and offer a variety of cameral angles. Interestingly, military bases and other buildings and resources cannot be obtained through the planet's resources, as there are none. Instead, you must rely upon public support to provide you with the items you need. You must then learn to use what you have to gain an advantage over the opposition. Conflict Zone is an innovative game that is host to two very intriguing and diverse plot lines, not to mention some highly addictive gameplay. Superb.
