Everquest: Shadows Of Luclin, Desktop Computer

Everquest, originally released in 1999, showed the gaming community what online gaming had to offer. Despite lacking Dungeons and Dragons rules of play, this Massively Multi-player Online Role-playing Game (MMORPG) proved phenomenally successful, and with good reason. Expanding on the success of the now legendary original, Everquest: Shadows of Luclin is set to open a whole new world of mystery and even greater compelling gameplay. Everquest's typical role-playing story goes something like this. Shortly after a mighty dragon wreaked havoc on Norrath leaving behind a complement of creatures, the Gods and ultimate rulers of the Everquest world divided their land equally and began to create an enormous population of unique creatures on their new-found territories. But an outcast God, Luclin, saw the Gods' petty bickering and hideous creations, and set out to create her own civilisation on the moon that orbited the planet. That moon was soon to be named Luclin. We could continue to tell about the events that occur in Shadows of Luclin, but that would spoil it. Let's talk about gameplay a little. Firstly, this Everquest expansion retains all of the basic features and game structure that made the original a classic title. Health, magic, weapons, armour, dragons, knights - it's all here. But for additional gameplay and an increase level of variety, Shadows of Luclin incorporates a non-level-based advancement system for existing players who have reached level 50 or above. This helps to bring something new for both veterans and new players of the Everquest series. There are 25 brand new environments to master in which you can tackle new quests, acquire new items and interact with a new set of non-playable characters. Visually, the game has been greatly enhanced and features an improved graphics engine and highly detailed character models, immersing the player in a more believable environment. There are increased minimum requirements to match (256 MB RAM!) but it's well worth it. Everquest: Shadows of Luclin is a fantastic online game that should keep gamers' collective RPG-hunger at bay for quite a while.
