Cricket 2002, Desktop Computer
PC-owning cricket fans know in their hearts that there's only really one place to go for their virtual fix of leather on willow action, and that's round at Electronic Arts house. EA Sports' cricket sims are maybe not as common as their football, boxing and F1 titles, but the pedigree is right there from the outset. It hasn't taken long for EA to get a foothold in the computer cricket market. So to the new, improved Cricket 2002. It's two years since the last offering, so what does 2002 have to offer? Read on. To paraphrase the EA Sports tagline, 'It's in the detail'. That's detail in stadiums, players, player faces, ball physics, team AI, pitch detail, pitch physics and player options: they've all seen major improvements from last time out. Ten international teams and two other national teams, which we'll kindly describe as minnows, are included, as well as bonus 'all-time greats' squads for the major nations. Test matches as well as One Day Internationals are also included, so for the first time, all teams will sport either all-whites or colour kits, depending on the competition mode selected. Team statistics are as up to date as can possibly be, and this is reflected in the computer teams' AI. They'll play just as well, or as badly, as their real life counterparts. New game options include World Championship, World Series, Sharjah Trophy, Practice Nets, Exhibition and Knockout Tournaments. The game revolves around a full TV-style presentation including a full action replay mode, third umpire, animated ducks, TV-style overlays, field position editor and much more. The detail in the featured stadia is amazing. From Calcutta to Lords, Cape Town to Auckland, by way of Melbourne, Lahore, Barbados and more than a dozen other locations, stand up crowds and details such as the telegraph poles in the backgrounds all add to an authentic gaming experience.

The PunisherOver the years many American super heroes have graced the published pages of the two most famous comic book stables in the States - DC and Marvel. While it's true that these characters have provided role models for generations of readers who grew up with them, sometimes their super-powers can distance them a little from your average Joe. If they're not lucky enough to be bitten by a radioactive sp...

Wacky RacesAnd here come those crazy, zany Wacky Racers and they're lining up at the start on your PC. Wacky Racers was a popular Hanna-Barbera cartoon featuring a mish-mash of popular characters such as the Ant Hill Mob and Dick Dastardly and Muttley in an action packed race for victory. The characters took it in turns to comically try to stop each other in their bids for victory using an assortment of acme...
Postal: Classic and UncutIn the wake of the controversial first-person shooter Postal 2, released in April this year, it seems that developer Running with Scissors has seen fit to re-release the even more controversial and less exposed original. Banned in several countries when it was first released in 1997 and responsible for the developers being sued by the United States Postal Service, Postal is back and, as the title ...
The Sims 2After changing the face of PC gaming in the late 1990's, by giving the player total control of someone else's life - albeit artificial - The Sims and its various add-ons and spin-offs have gone from strength to strength, even as far as spawning pale imitations from other developers and publishers. But The Sims is the best. Everyone knows that, no matter how much 'adult' content and nudity you mana...
Grandia IIThe original Grandia, developed by Game Arts, proved to be such a hugely successful RPG that a sequel was developed, published by Rayman creators, Ubi Soft. Released on Dreamcast, then on PlayStation 2, Grandia 2 is now coming to perhaps the most powerful polygon pushing machine of them all, PC. Set at the scene of a giant earthquake, the evil devil, Valmar, has awoken and is once again on a missi...
