Ballistics, Desktop Computer
This new Ballistics game (not to be confused with Ballistic for PlayStation), based upon a futuristic racing league similar to wipEout, is set to give fans of sci-fi racing just what they need - fictional adrenaline action. As stated previously, the premise of Ballistics is very similar to the legendary wipEout. The future of society is bent on the viewing of dangerous sports, in which death is inevitable. Racing in the Ballistics league, safety is unimportant and all that matters is winning. Ballistics consists of several standard modes of play that include championship and time trial, in which a series of up to seven tracks can be raced. But these are no ordinary tracks. Attached by some kind of graviton field (it's all very technical) racers must perform admirably on courses that have been designed specifically for high speed. Because there is a significant lack of sharp bends and hairpin corners, the developers have placed a variety of hazardous obstacles on the circuits. This makes gameplay much more interesting. There is also a second gaming style available, but it's a double-edged sword affair. Players can temporarily leave the graviton field and enter free flight, allowing the craft to be manoeuvred anywhere, and at any angle, on any track. But doing so results in an unstable playing experience. One false move, and you've blown your chances of victory. It should be used only when necessary. With lovely visuals, varied and challenging tracks, many vehicles and an element of strategy play, Ballistics will give wipEout a run for its money.
