Red Faction 2, Desktop Computer
Released back in 2001, the original Red Faction cast players into the boots of an oppressed miner, working on Mars, who initiates a revolt against the brutal corporation that is running the show. In this well received sequel, a similar premise is at hand, as players take on the role of a demolitions expert and member of an elite squad of super soldiers, in a vicious battle to overthrow their twisted government and its oppressive leader. Being a demolitions expert can only mean one thing: big explosions. And much destruction... Okay then, two things. Like the first Red Faction, the emphasis in this game rests clearly on these two factors, helped largely by a modified Geo Mod game engine. For those of you who don't know, the Geo Mod allows for the deformation of the game's landscape - as you progress through the game, wiping out all opposition with your super-charged arsenal of weaponry, you can also take out large areas of the surrounding scenery - a stunt that, more often than not, leads to the opening up of new areas and possible routes. With regard to the aforementioned weapons, there are a whopping 14 different assorted guns and other destruction-reaping devices, ranging from a simple automatic pistol, through assault rifles, magnetic rail drivers, to wide area saturation projectiles (!?) and, erm, anti-personnel weapons. For the latter, read 'anti-everything' weapon. Coupled with the game's array of controllable vehicles - including hover flyers, tanks and submarines - it's fairly safe to say that there's much ballistic mayhem to be had throughout.

Warcraft III: Reign Of ChaosThe transformation of the Orcs' society is one of the core themes of Warcraft III. Traditionally, Orcs are brutal, depraved creatures who serve only to cause strife and chaos amongst other 'enlightened' societies. However, Warcraft III will show that the Orcs not only came from a noble, highly spiritual culture, but that they are actively returning to it. Essentially, the Orcs once cultivated a qu...
