Beach Life, Desktop Computer
Well, it's September at the time of writing and summer is beginning to fade. If, like most of us, you hate the cold, Eidos has given you the chance to relive those summer parties and barbecues on those rainy days in, with Beach Life for PC. A Sims style strategy game, Beach Life not only lets you create and manage your own resort from scratch, it lets you observe the behaviour and interaction of your paying residents. This game is as much about relationships as it is a test of business skills. Players are free to set prices for accommodation and add numerous rides and water-based attractions such as Jetskis, Speedboats and Pedaloes. The strategic side of Beach Life is quite challenging, but easily manageable, not too taxing. But that's only half of the fun. Watching your visitors get up to mischief around the park is far more interesting, completely unpredictable and often hilarious. Multiple NPCs interact with each other in a variety of ways: sometimes they fight, sometimes they flirt, and on booze cruises they just get plain drunk. Your little Big Brother style spy camera also lets you follow a single visitor around your complex. It's a real virtual reality TV show... understand? Beach Life is sometimes a little blunt, but strangely realistic. It's funny like that. One thing is certain though: it's even better than Eastenders.
