Resistance is the expansion pack for the award-winning best seller Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis. Introducing a new island environment, Resistance expands the Flashpoint universe with an additional 100km2 of original landscape scenery, offering high resolution textures and models to take advantage of the latest generation of 3D graphics cards. The game itself focuses on an entirely new campaign, with a different style of play, that serves as a prequel to the original. Cast as ex-Special Forces soldier Victor Troska, gamers play through the closely linked events of the plot. Having turned his back on his military past, Troska now lives a quiet life on the island of Nogova, a short distance from the islands of the original game. His peace is destroyed, however, by the invasion of Soviet forces and he is therefore forced to form a Resistance and fight for the island's freedom. Players must begin the game with very little weaponry and equipment, as the game takes place before the US Army and its resources come to the islands. As players progress, supplies can be built up and forces can be increased. By gaining new recruits, scavenging and stealing weapons from the enemy and carefully managing equipment, a powerful army can be created, which will hopefully be strong enough to defeat the Soviets. Also on offer in the game is a new and improved multiplayer experience. Enhanced network code, overhauled communication code and an in-game server browser system have all been included to give better multiplayer performance. Resistance is a must for all owners of the original Operation Flashpoint, as anything that breathes new life into this superb title is certainly worth the asking price.
