Day of Defeat is the first offering of 2003 from Valve, makers of Half Life and CounterStrike. It's an online, first-person action experience set in the heart of World War II's European Theatre of Operations, and invites players to join the ranks of an elite military squad entrenched in battle. The game features multiple modes of play, a total of 15 multiplayer maps, all-new character models, hundreds of new animations, increased textures and all new particle effects system. Day of Defeat will also launch with a new Allied squad - the British. Each team has several 'player classes' that give each squad member a unique role. These include snipers, infantrymen, machine gunners, riflemen, sergeants and more, each with a unique arsenal of historical weaponry at their disposal. Day of Defeat includes an extensive selection of missions based on key battles from WWII, and a seemingly infinite number of additional missions, created by the online development community, are available for download at dayofdefeatmod.com
