Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, Desktop Computer
Drawing on twenty years of experience, Microsoft's development team has now produced the ultimate in consumer Flight Sim products in celebration of 100 years of flight. The aptly named Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 again promises to carry all the wisdom of its predecessors to create one of the most accurate and convincing simulators ever produced. Now, there are those of you who will, quite understandably, rush out and buy Microsoft's latest project without question or hesitation, confident of the company's endeavours. But there are those of you who would like to know why Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002 should be ditched in favour of the new sequel. Well, here's what's on offer people. Visuals and weather effects are among the most noticeable improvements. PC graphics have progressed significantly since the 2001 release of the game's immediate predecessor. Players equipped with the latest graphics cards and super-spec PCs can enjoy the game's stunning realism, vast environments, superbly rendered aircraft and weather effects in full glory. You'll be able to spot even the smallest of objects in the Flight Sim game world such as runway signs, and you'll witness some fabulous lighting and sky effects. Players can even endure real-time weather conditions if they hook up to the Internet. Fortunately the game doesn't require a 1,000 PC, and is able to run on Pentium II systems. Other features include enhanced Air Traffic Control, interactive 3D cockpits, scenery improvements, full-colour maps, terrain display, a Kiosk mode for unattended demonstrations and new and expanded lessons and ground school topics. Whether you're new to Microsoft Flight Simulator or a veteran of the entire series, there's plenty for everyone to get stuck into. The potential for Flight Simulator 2004 is incredible, offering literally thousands of hours of gameplay, and physics so realistic that they can be used by non-gaming companies for training purposes. Flight Simulator 2006 anyone?

Keeping in tradition with the current state of the genre, the three ...

Tropico 2: Pirate CoveWe first saw the original Tropico at a private showing at 2000's ECTS at the London Olympia, and it impressed. Not because of its visuals or myriad features, but because of the effort that went into the game engine. Tropico was as realistic as games come, and its sequel, Tropico 2, highly anticipated by RTS veterans, is set to improve on what is already a respected game. As an all-powerful Pirate ...

Soldier of Fortune II: Double HelixSoldier of Fortune 2, like its predecessor, places a focus on realistic combat physics. Weapons are faithfully modelled, with some extremely accurate accompanying sound effects, and real-life locales, such as Prague, Colombia, Hong Kong and Kamchatka feature as the settings for the missions. Most significant, however, is the new 'Ghoul 2' technology used to recreate 'ultra-realistic' damage modell...
IndyCar SeriesAnyone not familiar with the concept of Indy racing need only know the following: it basically consists of 3.5 litre F1-type cars and oval tracks. Subsequently, it's fast. Very fast. In fact, we're talking '0 - 100mph in less than three seconds' fast. The actual Indy Racing season is an open-wheeled championship, which takes place on short ovals and super speedways across the United States, includ...
