Dungeon Siege II, Desktop Computer
It's more than three years since Microsoft brought us Dungeon Siege, the Gas Powered Games-developed RPG title. In the vein of Diablo I and II and Ultima VII and VIII, the game cast the player as a farmer trying to protect his lands from domination by the evil Krug. Now Gas Powered Games are back, with Dungeon Siege II. Set a generation after its predecessor, the game once again transports you to the land of Ehb. Now a far greater force for evil than even the terrible Krug threatens the land. We are told that a thousand years ago, a huge battle ended the First Age of Man, and an enormous cataclysm left behind barren wastelands and caused the dissemination of large amounts of magical energy. Now, something, or perhaps someone, is drawing the diffuse magic back together and focusing it in one place. But who, how and why? It's up to you to find out, or the Second Age of Man could be prematurely curtailed! Hand pick a team of up to six adventurers, and hone their skills over time via the all-new character development system which is crammed with new skills and special abilities, including all-powerful heroic abilities that can change the tide of a battle. The first game featured the pack mule; now there are any number of creatures that can help you on your way, and their skills develop too as you proceed. You can play alone or take your team of warriors online and play with others in pursuit of the same quests, either competitively or co-operatively. The world is more impressive than ever before. Pitched battles rage around our brave heroes as they go about, battles that they can help turn the tide of. Terrifying new enemies will prove a match for them, and with an all-new AI system will be as cunning as they are awesome. As you'd expect in an RPG, a huge selection of magical and special items are waiting to be collected. With a customisable cinematic engine, the world should be more immersive than ever before. Buyers and tryers can expect a competent RPG from GPG, top developers in the genre on PC.
