Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords is the highly anticipated sequel to the award-winning Galactic Civilizations that introduces a new 3D graphics engine, a choice of 10 playable alien factions, extensive customisation options and more ways to win. Players will lead their civilisations to galactic supremacy through technological prowess, diplomatic cunning, cultural influence or military might as they uncover the far reaches of the universe. In Galactic Civilizations II, there is an immense universe of discovery awaiting players, with literally thousands of planets to discover and attempt to colonize. And its up to the player to decide how they will gain power in this immense galaxy - either by tactful diplomacy and interstellar trading, or by force of arms. Players align themselves to one of ten races, or if you like you can create a custom race to help you gain the ultimate power. Each race has its own unique advantages and disadvantages. The gameplay requires you to use technology, colonization and war to build your omnipotent and far-reaching interstellar empire. You begin by creating your own customised spaceship, through using the various technologies on offer to design unique ship classes and visually customizing the looks of your fleet. You then push out into the vast galaxy, with over 20 different types of planet out there in the vast beyond for you to discover and colonize. You will harvest your resources, develop civilizations and attempt to conquer all of the strategic universal positions. Galactic Civilizations II boasts a unique 3D engine that allows for some marvellous and epic space battles.
