Soldier of Fortune, Electronic Games
Soldier of Fortune is a violent game, and not for the faint-hearted. Wusses and wimps need not apply. Assuming the role of John Mullins, your challenge within the game is to ultimately destroy a terrorist organisation and survive the ordeal. You must use your stealth abilities and talents as a sharpshooter to maintain your position as a hunter. Become the hunted, and your game will be short-lived. As a first-person shooter, Soldier of Fortune is not the easiest game to control on the Dreamcast, but given a little time it will become second nature. The game will see you wandering through a more than adequate 26 levels, spread across 10 missions and 5 continents, and including locations such as an Iraqi oil factory and a Russian chemical plant. Inevitably, unpleasant sorts of death play a huge part in this graphic gaming experience. The characters are so well modelled in fact, that when a limb is shot at, it may well fall off at the point of impact, or when putting a bullet in the head, it splatters in a dramatic fashion. Weaponry includes some of the most lethal creations, such as phosphorous grenades and microwave pulse guns. Soldier of Fortune is certainly aimed towards a more mature audience, and quite rightly so. It's gruesome, it gory, and it's one hell of a great game.

Advance Wars 2: Black Hole RisingThe grid-based RTS game is one that used to be traditionally Japanese. Few such games made it to western shores, but over time the genre has become more popular Stateside and in Europe. Final Fantasy Tactics (not released in the UK) was particularly popular, as was Vandal Hearts 1 and 2 and the Front Mission series. More importantly, Advance Wars was one of Nintendo's most popular RTS efforts for ...
Future Tactics: The UprisingAs good as the turn-based strategy game has become, it's a widely known fact that their complex game engines, methodical approach and grid-like environments can be sometimes intimidating. If only someone could deliver the same experience without the need for near mathematical genius... well now someone has. It's from renowned developer Zed-Two and it goes by the name of Future Tactics. Set in the ...
DokaponWhat's rather obvious about this title is that it' is quite heavily inspired by Pokemon. Claiming to be a blend of a traditional RPG and Nintendo's top-selling monster battle game, Dokapon sees the player hunt and collect monsters before battling them in turn-based fights. The player takes on the role of Hero, a young boy living in Poponga, a city on Dokkano Island. Having just reached the ripe ol...
Mega Man Battle Network 4 Tournament: Blue MoonMegaman Battle Network 4 Red Sun and Blue Moon are set for simultaneous release, and unlike previous titles in this game series, the main focus of Megaman Battle Network 4 is its tournament system. Since different enemies and partners will appear in the two versions, the strategy of each title will be totally different. It is up to the player to decide which version to choose, but both Red Sun and...
Colin McRae Rally 04One of the first things we have to tell you about this fourth instalment of Colin McRae Rally is that it is so much better than its immediate predecessor. CMR3's biggest fault - the feeling that your car's steering came from some magical place in the centre of the floorpan - has been rectified in fine style. Not only do the front wheels do all of the steering, but they do so with a realism that we...
