Resident Evil: Code Veronica, Electronic Games

The first 128-bit sequel to one of the most popular videogame franchises in history finally receives it's Dreamcast debut. In full 3D for the first time, Resident Evil: Code Veronica promises to give one of the most chilling interactive horror experiences of all time. The largest improvement, as with any next generation sequel, are the graphics. Textures are vast, detailed, and almost of FMV-like quality. Stunning. While Code Veronica may be in full 3D, there is a distinct lack of freedom. There's no capability to alter camera angles, making this a linear experience. Given that the character control has not been changed in the slightest, this is perhaps the best option. The added bonus to non-controllable cameras in a title of this genre, is that the intense atmosphere is retained through disabling the ability to look around corners. Code Veronica's structure is virtually identical to the three previous titles, whereby you have to collect items unlock doors and shoot zombies. This seems to be case of “if it ain't broke don't fix it” for Capcom. While not an original title, Code Veronica has more than enough assets to make this a title worth having. Be scared.
