WWF No Mercy, Electronic Games
Today, there are a huge number of wrestling games available; some are exceptional, others are not so great, and can often let the genre down. It seems that the games that stand out mostly originate from one single developer - THQ. Although the infamous Smackdown series never made it to Nintendo's 64-bit console, a substitute has been provided by THQ, and that is WWF No Mercy. Based on previous productions, No Mercy looks set to stand alongside the best of them. Specific to the Nintendo 64 console, WWF No Mercy incorporates a four-player simultaneous option of play, making for some truly amazing multiplayer enjoyment. Multiplayer aside, there are many other options that give the single player plenty to do. There are whopping 65 WWF characters present in all, including the awesome The Rock (refers to himself in the third person, by the way). All characters have their own unique movement, design, and trademark moves and combos. Team combos have also been incorporated here, including the famous Dudley 3D Deathdrop. A survival mode of play allows the single player to take on the entire federation. With plenty of game modes, some intense multiplayer action, and an all-new ladder match, No Mercy proves to be the ultimate Smackdown substitute for sour-faced Nintendo 64 owners deprived of the real thing.

Gladiator: Sword of VengeanceThe single-player “kill-em-up” is the type of game we don't see much of these days. Nintendo typically opts for childlike gameplay lacking in violent content, whilst others tend to stick with a traditional beat-em-up frenzy. Acclaim's Gladiator: Sword of Vengeance for Xbox is one such title that goes back to Roman times and follows the adventures of a lone warrior fighting for survival...
Jade EmpireIt's no secret that games often imitate the trends and pre-occupations of the better established film industry. Just as Hollywood grows obsessed - and bored just as quickly - of one setting or another, the games industry has its own fads, and these often take their cue from the silver screen. Far more intriguing than an endless parade of WWII and Vietnam shooters, however, is a game that seeks to ...
Davis Cup TennisThe spirit and excitement of the Davis Cup arrives on the Gameboy Advance. Not just a simple tennis sim, this release from Ubi Soft focuses on the format of this tournament and the way in which it differs from most tennis competitions. The Davis Cup is a team-based competition with countries competing against each other, as opposed to individuals. In the GBA game, the player can choose from any of...
Gun ValkyrieGun Valkyrie is essentially a 'Mech-themed', third person shooter with elements of exploration and puzzle-solving and a most definite emphasis on simple, arcade play mechanics. As is often the case with titles under the Sega branding, this Smilebit release lacks any pretentiousness stylistically and remains faithful to its modest claim of simplicity. Inventor of a globally destructive energy form,...
Crash 'n' BurnBluuurgh!! Der-der-der-dana-dana-dana-dana-dana...! Yes! Crash'n'Burn introduces itself with one verse and one chorus of the rampaging sound of the Von Bondies' 'It Came From Japan' and an opening FMV that promises automobile carnage on a massive scale. Verily, it rocks. And then, umm...ooh, how can we put this? Let's just say that the battery needs a bit of a charge when you initially get into th...
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Rogue SpearYou lead RAINBOW, a covert international counter-terrorist team set up to combat terrorism around the world. As part of the operations assigned to you, you must select team members, outfit them with weapons and equipment, plan the actions your team will take and execute them (the plans, not the team members!) to achieve the objectives. The team's initial missions are pretty much business as usual ...
