Outlaw Golf, Electronic Games
In what can only be described as a bad man's golf game, Outlaw Golf is perhaps one of the most originally themed games of its genre. Golf game after golf simulator, these games often try too hard to stand out from the crowd and most end up failing. TDK's Outlaw Golf however, which pits rejects from the classier golfing leagues against one another, excels in this respect. There's a mean character called Doc Digler, a group of girlfriend strippers and several other politically incorrect club swingers ready to take a shot for you, as you tackle bizarrely located golf courses dotted around the world. One course is positioned right next to noisy Newark Airport, one is in the middle of the Nevada desert, and somehow, the developers have even managed to squeeze one on top of a swamp. Aimed at those a with penchant for movies such as Happy Gilmore, Caddy Shack and Hooters, Outlaw Golf plays host to a wonderful game engine, customisable difficulty levels and an upbeat soundtrack. Even better, it's devoid of meaningless commentary. But if your lack of skill gets the better of you, you can always swing a club in the direction of your caddy to relieve a little tension. At face value, Outlaw Golf is merely a 'naughty' golf game, and that's great, but there's a sound golf game underneath it all, and one that deserves your attention.

Grand Theft Auto AdvanceFor those who don't already know, Grand Theft Auto Advance has a troubled history that dates right back to 2001 where it was moved from studio to studio before finally being completed by developer Digital Eclipse under the watchful eye of Rockstar North. Released to coincide with the hugely anticipated console version of San Andreas, GTA Advance, because of obvious technical limitations, revisits ...
Backyard Wrestling 2: There Goes the NeighborhoodParadox's 2003 release of Backyard Wrestling proved that there was more to be accomplished in wrestling games than laying opponents to rest in the ring, taking the brutal sport outdoors in an unconventional effort that saw would-be pros using any number of props to take out the enemy in what turned out to be a rather adult piece of entertainment. A year on, a bigger and better Backyard sequel has ...
Tokyo Highway ChallengeTokyo Highway battle is quite simply a Gran Turismo wannabe. Except rather than battle out with a fixed number of opponents on a race track, you battle all comers on the streets of Tokyo. Anyone who has dirven in Tokyo will quickly realise that this premise is preposterous, since the traffic is at logjam for 90% of the day. But the developers have carefully thinned down the traffic density for the...
NHL 2KWatch out, there's a ruddy-cheeked, toothless Canadian about! NHL 2000 is the absolute flipside to the dour realism of classic ice hockey movie 'Slapshot', in that rather than laugh yourself silly at the reckless antics of a bunch of ageing alcoholic no-hopers, every player in this title looks as fit as a butcher's dog. And yes, that includes the clumsily swaying mass of loud colours and padding t...
Atari Anniversary AdvanceNow this is a trip down Memory Lane worth taking. Atari Anniversary Advance features some of the most addictive games from the 1970's and 1980's, namely Asteroids, Battlezone, Centipede, Missile Command, Super Breakout and Tempest. If none of the aforementioned games appeal, you can't be too fond of video games, that's what we say. We also say thankyou to Digital Eclipse, the developer responsible...
