Furious Karting, Electronic Games
Within each gaming genre lies a scale that separates the Mario Brothers from the Metroids and the Tomb Raiders from the Die Hards, and the same is true of racing games. We all had fun with our Super Mario Karts and Micro Machines, but now it's time to relieve some of that pent up anger in Infogrames' Furious Karting. A game that puts the fun into karting and takes players off the circuits and onto the streets, Furious Karting incorporates tricks, fiendish gameplay and humorous language to create something quite unique within in its genre. Players can choose freely from an assortment of distinct drivers, each carrying specific personality attributes then can be carried over into the races themselves, affecting driver behaviour in some cases. Furious Karting also accommodates a non-linear scenario mode as well as standard championships and multi-player tournaments, in which you can choose from one of two teams and attempt to prove yourself an adept leader in the world of karting. The game itself plays well and is accompanied by some respectable visuals. It's not a game that strives for realism and as such, the cartoon style visuals can't be compared reasonably with those seen in, say, Gran Turismo. Nevertheless, it is a fun game with plenty of modes, hidden extras and great replay value and longevity.

Iron Aces 1942It's true that flight simulators are mainly PC-based products. This is largely because of fewer controls on a console's controller. Many simulators of this kind require an extensive control system that make use of at least twenty or so key functions. But because the Dreamcast has mouse and keyboard compatibility, Xicat took it upon themselves to create the first World War II-based game for the con...

CSI: Crime Scene InvestigationRarely seen since the days of the text based-adventure, investigate-em-ups such as The X-Files for PC quickly became notorious as some of the hardest games ever to appear on the shelves. But despite sometimes being a little frustrating, they are stimulating and ultimately enjoyable, so it surprises us that there aren't very many of them around. Nevertheless, there is a new one for PC - it's from U...

Gio Gio's Bizarre AdventureBeat-em-up fans, prepare yourself for a completely different 2D fighter called Jo Jo's Bizarre Adventure on Dreamcast. Bizarre is the right word to use, but amongst a host of sequels Jo Jo is highly appreciated. Originality is a key concept to the development of the video game industry and Jo Jo has plenty of new ideas. This game is based on the Anime series of the same name. Capcom are the kings ...
