Incredible Hulk, The, Electronic Games
An event that is somewhat far from incredible, the upcoming release of Hollywood's latest comic book re-make Hulk is set to be complemented by a number of video game tie-ins. Whereas the home console games tell of a story set one year after the events of the film, this portable version for the Game Boy Advance focuses more on the superhero's comic book origins, being based on the original Pre-Silver Age Marvel classic comics, The Incredible Hulk and Tales to Astonish, from Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. As the story goes (and as if we don't already know), caught in the heart of a nuclear explosion, Doctor Bruce Banner now finds himself transformed in times of stress into one thousand pounds of unfettered fury - the most powerful creature ever to walk the earth - the Incredible Hulk. Unfortunately, however, he finds himself facing a multitude of foes all out to deny him the solitude he so desperately craves. Not only the forces of the U.S. Army, but also strange and powerful adversaries such as the Executioner, Tyrannus, and the sinister Leader's Humanoids. Taking control of the raging torrent of destruction, players must work their way through military compounds, barren deserts, subterranean cities, underground caves, and even earth's distant future in order to escape from the relentless conflict. However, one more thing shall stand in their way and that is the most lethal creation of gamma radiation ever: the evil Abomination. Gameplay takes place across 33 old-school-isometric levels, which are made up of freely roaming, multiple objective environments. Throughout each environment, just about every object is interactive and can therefore be damaged or destroyed, so there's a fair amount of smashing through walls to be done as you navigate your way through the game. With over 30 hours of gameplay, the Incredible Hulk also features a variety of complex puzzles, as well as the unrelenting action and devastation. Add to this the collection of classic bosses to conquer, including the Executioner and the Moleman, and you've got yourself quite a lot of bang for your buck.

Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the ImperfectsSuperheroes have always been good game fodder, and as summer turns to autumn in 2005, there's a positive flood of 'ubermensch' titles coming out. Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects is one of these, and is truly a crossover of crossovers. As if flexing their muscles after acquiring rights to a huge amount of Marvel IP, Electronic Arts has recruited heroes and villains from all over the shop to ...
Rat AttackUp until the next generation era of PlayStation, Nintendo 64 and Sega Saturn, games within the puzzle genre remained on a 2-dimensional plain. 3D capabilities can offer the genre two directions of development. A puzzle game can now be developed to incorporate the use of 3D into the game structure, or it can remain faithful to its vertical and horizontal plains and receive some graphical enhancemen...
Charlie and the Chocolate FactoryMany who grew up in the seventies and thereafter remember Roald Dahl fondly as their favourite author. Like all the best children's writers, his tone had no trace of condescension in it and the power of his imagination often made so-called adult fiction seem unambitious and mundane in comparison. The story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is undoubtedly his most famous creation of all, followi...
The Sims Bustin' OutOriginally a hardcore PC offering, Maxis' Sims series first debuted as a typical isometric strategy game. It was remarkably popular, and soon played host to a great number of add-on packs and expansions. But it was only in early 2003 that the franchise broke free of its PC restraints and became available in full 3D for current generation consoles. Again, it was massively popular. But it doesn't st...
FirebladeChopper games are typically a hardcore genre, attracting a very specific audience of flight sim purists, but with many there's often that X-factor makes them appealing not just to genre aficionados, but to your average gamer too. Paying homage to the multitude of helicopter-based shoot-'em-ups of the 16 bit era, with titles such as Desert Strike, Nuclear Strike, et al, Fireblade follows pretty muc...
Millennium Soldier: eXpendableYou are a genetically created drone. A machine designed for one thing. Killing. You are, of course, expendable. Millennium Soldiers is very much a birds-eye-view shoot-em-up. The game is all about guns, guns, and more guns. If you are sensitive to constant flashing or bright colours of any kind, then this is not the game for you. New on a 128-bit console, you will witness some of the most spectacu...
