Incredible Hulk, The, Electronic Games

An event that is somewhat far from incredible, the upcoming release of Hollywood's latest comic book re-make Hulk is set to be complemented by a number of video game tie-ins. Whereas the home console games tell of a story set one year after the events of the film, this portable version for the Game Boy Advance focuses more on the superhero's comic book origins, being based on the original Pre-Silver Age Marvel classic comics, The Incredible Hulk and Tales to Astonish, from Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. As the story goes (and as if we don't already know), caught in the heart of a nuclear explosion, Doctor Bruce Banner now finds himself transformed in times of stress into one thousand pounds of unfettered fury - the most powerful creature ever to walk the earth - the Incredible Hulk. Unfortunately, however, he finds himself facing a multitude of foes all out to deny him the solitude he so desperately craves. Not only the forces of the U.S. Army, but also strange and powerful adversaries such as the Executioner, Tyrannus, and the sinister Leader's Humanoids. Taking control of the raging torrent of destruction, players must work their way through military compounds, barren deserts, subterranean cities, underground caves, and even earth's distant future in order to escape from the relentless conflict. However, one more thing shall stand in their way and that is the most lethal creation of gamma radiation ever: the evil Abomination. Gameplay takes place across 33 old-school-isometric levels, which are made up of freely roaming, multiple objective environments. Throughout each environment, just about every object is interactive and can therefore be damaged or destroyed, so there's a fair amount of smashing through walls to be done as you navigate your way through the game. With over 30 hours of gameplay, the Incredible Hulk also features a variety of complex puzzles, as well as the unrelenting action and devastation. Add to this the collection of classic bosses to conquer, including the Executioner and the Moleman, and you've got yourself quite a lot of bang for your buck.
