Manchester United Club Football 2005, Electronic Games
For the 2004/2005 season, the Codemasters Club Football 2005 range has emerged with a new game engine to power faster and more responsive gameplay. More clubs join Codies' range this year - Leeds United are understandably absent this time around - for their official video game. Over 20 of the best European football clubs from Arsenal to Real Madrid are included for 2005; Birmingham City are here too. Someone from Codemasters must have friends there... Look, it's Alan Smith! In a Man Utd shirt! Club Football 2005 boasts some of the most detailed player modelling we've seen, with facial animations and expressions displaying as much emotion as the processor can muster. In addition to some of the more savage moves you can make in CF2005, there's a whole bunch of new skill moves including dummies, improved close control, feints and fine positioning adjustment. This is all very well, but the real challenge is to put it all together into a team performance. Nimble fingers are a must, naturally. The most notable of all the new features, however, is the Precision Trigger. This is an all-new detailed control feature for close-up play. If you've got the ball - activate the Precision Trigger (Black button on Xbox) and get closer control of your player to dictate the next few crucial moves: drag the ball back or do a shimmy, find an extra yard, and have the space to fire your best shot at the goal before a defender gets in the way. So, with the Precision Trigger there's a great new alternative to sprinting with the ball and losing it to the first random defender to get in your face; something that happens all too often in footy games. Slow down play for a second to time that cross, give a teammate time to go on a run, or just to mess with your marker's head to send him the wrong way before you go for goal. Club Football 2005 gives you the choice to play the ball how you want - but only you can pull the trigger, so to speak. With twice the amount of official team content in each game, great skill moves, new game modes including career, an in-depth practice option, and classic scenarios, plus over 250 playable clubs in each game, the new Club Football 2005 range will bring players even closer to their chosen team.

The Sims Bustin' OutWith handheld gaming machines noticeably inferior to their 128-bit counterparts, it's not surprising that many games with an ounce of graphical achievement tend to stick to home consoles. But Nintendo's GBA hardware puts aside a few of those issues, allowing developers to bring games that were formerly PC and console-only releases to the handheld platform. One such game is Maxis' The Sims, develop...
Looney Tunes Taz ExpressThe Looney Toons franchise has always been hugely popular amongst younger audiences, although primarily in television. Now Looney Toons comes to Nintendo 64 in the form of Taz Express. New to Nintendo 64, Taz Express is consistent with the cartoon series. He's as lazy as ever, and now it's up to you to give him a little exercise. Of course it isn't that simple; there has to be a motive, as with an...
ManhuntRockstar North's extremely graphic and violent stealth-based kill-em-up, first released for PlayStation 2 back in November 2003, has now made its way over to Xbox. The game is fundamentally a direct port, but benefits from a higher resolution and some much-improved textures, meaning that its rather grim concept of snuff movies is now rendered in even greater detail. Manhunt casts you as protagonis...
Kao the KangarooMove over Mario, Kao is the new kid on the block and he is a boxing kangaroo. Kao the Kangaroo is a cutesy 3D platform game that will appeal to younger players. This game is similar to Mario 64 and Croc and is enjoyable to play. The gameplay is simple and easy enough to learn. Kao has a special attack that he can call on whenever he gets into trouble or he can punch the enemies with his boxing glo...

Men of ValorWhen it comes to video games, the Vietnam War is a popular subject. Already in 2004 we've had Vietcong, Conflict Vietnam, and Shellshock, but now there's another from the developer behind Allied Assault, called Men of Valor. Very similar to the aforementioned games, and indeed the Medal of Honour series in general, Men of Valor is a solid war game that pits players in myriad hostile situations tha...
