Tak 2: The Staff of Dreams, Electronic Games
The first Tak game, Tak and the Power of Juju, was an action platformer. Set in a distant tribal past, it followed the adventures of Tak, a shaman's apprentice, who must save his village from the evil Juju Man. Juju was the game's name for magic, and as well as being able to run, jump, hit and swing, Tak could learn 17 magical spells to help him on his adventure, which included transforming into a chicken and a fish. Developed and published once again by Avalanche and THQ, Tak 2: The Staff of Dreams proves that Tak is indeed back. In the Power of Juju, Tak discovered that he was the legendary hero of the Pupanunu people foretold by legend. Now he is troubled by a reoccurring dream in which an imprisoned maiden seeks his help. A Dream Juju offers to help him learn the ways of the Dreamworld and get to the bottom of the mystery. But it's all a trick! The offers of help were nothing more than a ruse by which Tlaloc hoped to steal the Staff of Dreams. And in the ensuing scuffle, the staff is broken into two pieces. Tak is left with half a staff, while the evil Tlaloc's minions - Pins and Needles - escape with the other half. Racing to prevent them from presenting it to their Dark Master, Tak follows in hot pursuit, and must close up the rents in reality that the mischievous pair open along their way. Tlaloc uses the staff to create the reality-manipulating Nightmare Sceptre. Tak must foil him if the worlds of Nightmare and reality are ever to be separated again.
