Ridge Racer, Sony Playstation
As a launch title for Sony's first delve into the industry with PlayStation, Ridge Racer was one of the first 3D arcade titles to be made available for home use, and as such it had a lot of hype to live up to. Ridge Racer is a straight conversion from arcade to platform, no additions included, but it would seem the customers were quite happy with this, as it quickly became the best selling launch title for the PlayStation. For the first time gamers could take advantage of unlimited play without burning a hole in their pocket. Novelty factor aside, what else does Ridge Racer have to offer? Gamers unfamiliar with Ridge Racer or who don't go down to the arcades very often, maybe have been a little discouraged to discover that there is only one track in this racer. Developer Namco, have utilised the single track to create many, many hours of fantastic game play. Namco have put a lot of thought into this track, it has straights, hairpin corners, everything you could want in a track. Ridge Racer has retained it's superb game play in the conversion to PlayStation, and with so many ways to race a track, this will be a great game for many arcade fans.

Panzer FrontWhen producing video games and their content, the subject of the Second World War can be a delicate one, to say the least. Releasing such games in certain European countries is often a decision that must be taken very seriously. But there is way around this. Panzer Front confronts some of the most involving nations head-on in a game where you can fight as the United States, Russia, and even German...
Action Man: Mission XtremeAction Man: Mission Extreme mixes game genres and aims itself squarely at the younger player. The early levels are 'Spy Hunter' style viewed-from-above driving games. These are folowed up by more involved third person 3D action/puzzle levels in a similar vein to the fist part of the 'Die Hard Trilogy' game. The games are playable enough, though the driving sections are pretty tough for introductor...
SummonerBig in Japan for many years, the RPG's recent assimilation into Western climes signalled that maybe US and European software houses should follow suit, and start to concoct some fine homegrown 'role-players'. THQ, now a leader in the UK publishing field, brings forth Summoner, a PlayStation 2 RPG offering in conjunction with developers Volition. Summoners, powerful beings capable of collapsing emp...
Tekken 4The king of the iron fist tournament finally returns, this time accompanied by slightly less hype and misleading propaganda. The concept originally announced before the PS2's release, which soon turned into Tekken Tag Tournament, now seems to have come to fruition, as Tekken 4 boasts all the features which originally created the buzz at the advent of the PS2. Foremost among these is the fact that ...
Die Hard: VendettaConsider any of the Die Hard films and you'll find that the concept is fundamentally the same: one man up against thousands, with no shoes and lots of guns. Now think video games for a minute and it soon becomes apparent that Die Hard films are just basically first-person shooters in movie form (obviously the shoes reference isn't always relevant). So it should come as no surprise to see the Die H...
