Action Man: Mission Xtreme, Sony Playstation
Action Man: Mission Extreme mixes game genres and aims itself squarely at the younger player. The early levels are 'Spy Hunter' style viewed-from-above driving games. These are folowed up by more involved third person 3D action/puzzle levels in a similar vein to the fist part of the 'Die Hard Trilogy' game. The games are playable enough, though the driving sections are pretty tough for introductory levels. Once you get into the 3D puzzling/action things are a touch easier, and its clear that this game is for a younger predominantly male audience, just like the real-world toy from which it takes its name. The game will still appeal to older fans of the genre, but the way in which mission objectives, and how to acheive them, is explained at length will frustrate older players. It will, however, prove invaluable in helping players get used to the Tomb Raider style of game. Action man has gone from being the 100% accurate British Army squaddie that he was a few years ago to being a James Bond style superspy, complete with all the gimmicks and gadgets, and you'll use these to help you acheive your game objectives. Your adventures will take you from Professor Gangrene's desert laboratory, to City streets, to Dr.X's secret Ice Base. Using a wide range of gadgets and vehicles on hand you must defeat the evil plots of Dr.X to dominate the world.

David Beckham SoccerWhen Rage inked the deal with free kick specialist and unofficial 'hardest-working man in football', David 'Becks' Beckham, it did so at a very prudent moment in the Sarf Londoner's career. The game was not given much external attention, aside from the general sneering that seemed to accompany everything David Beckham did at the time. Then he played very, very well against Germany in the World Cup...
