Arcade Party Pak, Sony Playstation
While today's industry mostly requires new games to be developed in a 3D environment, showcasing newer technologies, there is a minority audience that prefers just the opposite. These days, retro gamers often have to go to great lengths to get hold of some arcade favourites, but there are some software houses helping to satisfy these players' appetites. Once such company is Midway, bringing us Arcade Party Pak, featuring six classic games that are currently unobtainable on the shop shelf. The compilation has a diverse range of games that include 720, Rampage, Toobin', Klax, Smash TV and Super Sprint. 720 is a classic game from the mid-eighties that consists of riding the streets on a skateboard as well as tackling some ramp and slalom events. Rampage, a 1987 classic, puts you in role of one of three mutant monsters, including a giant Godzilla-like lizard and a King Kong lookalike. Your task is simple: to completely destroy as many buildings as possible without losing your life. Klax is a simple puzzle game, whereby you must stack differently coloured blocks in lines of three to make them disappear. The basics are similar to those in classic games Tetris and Columns. Smash TV, similar in theme to the cinema hit, Running Man, puts you in a fantasy TV show where you must defend your life from hordes of enemies in a series of rooms. Toobin' puts you in a rubber tube race down what seems to be a never ending river. On your river ride you will come across snakes, crocodiles, and even swamp monsters. Finally, Super Sprint is a car racing game in the simplest terms. It incorporates a top down view, a host of tracks, and is strangely highly addictive for something so obviously primitive. As a compilation, you can't go far wrong with the Arcade Party Pak.

Pitfall: The Lost ExpeditionIf ever a remake of a classic retro gaming franchise has progressed technologically so amazingly then it has to be this Pitfall title.
