Blade, Sony Playstation
A soul in eternal torment and a deathless existence surely means that being a half-human, half-vampire type creature must be a bit of a drag. D from the film and game Vampire Hunter D never looked too happy and neither did Wesley Snipes in the 1998 blockbuster movie Blade. The film was atmospheric to the extreme, with dark otherworldly undertones that captured a cult following around the world and the PlayStation version has recreated this faithfully. The game plays as a free-roaming mission based 'kill 'em up' with the Wesley Snipes titular character controlled by the player. At Blade's disposal, aside from his deadly fighting techniques, is a huge arsenal of firearms including Quake style chain guns and army issue assault rifles. Blade has a Soul Reaver/Fighting Force feel to it as far as combat is concerned. You have to be extra-vigilant when stalking around the claustrophobic, dimly lit buildings, searching for the fourteen glyphs that contain the power of the evil vampires that murdered Blade's mother. One of the truly unique features of Blade from Activision is the way the game identifies Blade's enemies as human or vampire. If the encountered foe is human, conventional methods of killing can be applied to see them off. If the enemy is a vampire however, things are very much different and silver daggers, from where Blade takes his name can be used. Or just save those valuable bullets and beat up the bloodsucking fiend! If you liked the movie, which of course the game's plot follows closely, or have a passion for all things dark and sinister, Blade could be the one you're looking for.

Wallace & Gromit in Project ZooCheese lovers of the world, unite! Put down your sandwiches and have a look at what Frontier Developments have brought about with Wallace and Gromit in Project Zoo, a 3D epic with the requisite W&G humour. We're not surprised to see them on PS2, just a little taken aback with just how good this game is. The diabolical penguin Feathers has incarcerated all the baby animals of the zoo in order to pe...
Silent Hill 4: The RoomThough Resident Evil is the game considered responsible for bringing the survival horror game into the mainstream, there are far more hardcore and graphic offerings available, just waiting to give their punters a fright. The most disturbed of which probably comes in the form of Silent Hill, a game created in the wake the Resident Evil phenomenon that quickly went on to become one of the most notor...
Extreme Championship WrestlingTo coin an old boxing phrase, the gloves are off. Infact, maybe the people (ir)responsible for ECW Hardcore Revolution have never seen a pair of gloves in their lives. This is a rude, lewd, and yes, crude addition to a growing (or is it festering?) genre. ECW Hardcore Revolution is one of the most gratuitously bare-knuckled, nay, bare-arsed, violently inclined PSX games I have happened upon. And i...

America's 10 Most WantedControversy is something we're seeing increasing amounts of in video games. The bottom line is it sells games, often regardless of their quality. However, the trick to obtaining real media stardom is to actually develop a good game and not just disguise a poor development with a politically incorrect adventure. And that's exactly what System 3 has done with the aptly named America's 10 Most Wanted...
