All of you motocross fans will be delighted by THQ's latest offering, Championship Motocross 2001 featuring Ricky Carmichael. The last game sold so well a sequel was planned and that's usually the case with a popular game. It's fast and furious dirtbike action, it's competitive racing, it's massively entertaining two-player entertainment. If case you don't know who Ricky Carmichael is, you can rest assured in the knowledge that he his one of the biggest motocross stars and one of the most frequent winners. He is truly talented and if he's putting his name to a game, it's a sign of greatness. Championship Motocross features 30 real riders from the 2000 season covering both the 125cc and 250cc classes. All of the bikes and circuits from the season are accurately represented. There are over 16 customisable bikes on offer, each offering their own unique handling characteristics. The 2001 version offers improved graphics over its predecessor and an improved physics system. The enhanced game engine gives the game a better feel. When you first start racing, negotiating the corners can be tricky, but as you learn how and when to powerslide, Championship Motocross comes into its own. Going around corners sideways is always a buzz, but if you overdo it you will lose too much speed and forfeit your position. If you fancy being flash, there are over 50 tricks that you can perform mid-air, including the riders signature tricks. With over 8 game modes including championships, careers and freestyle events there is a lot of motocross on offer here. Good gameplay and tons of it.
