Power Rangers Light Speed Rescue, Sony Playstation
With Power Rangers being a passing fad from the early nineties, it seems strange that they still have a noticeable presence today. A little assistance from the video games industry is helping to keep Power Rangers in the mainstream field of entertainment. Power Rangers Light Speed Rescue is the latest instalment to feature the lycra-covered, rainbow-coloured heroes of late. Unsurprisingly, you are given the option to choose any of the five Power Rangers available, although each one has their own strengths and weaknesses in terms of agility, strength, speed, and stamina. Once you begin the game proper, more experienced players will soon find themselves thinking of the arcade classic Streets of Rage, but in 3D. As one of the Rangers, you must tackle a number levels intertwined with the storyline of the game, and overcome many of the cunning obstacles that await you. At times, you will be kicking and punching your way through as many as six or seven characters on-screen simultaneously. Every so often, a boss will make appear and attempt to take you out with his or her own devious talents and tactics. The majority of the game's progress is made this way, although there are a few surprises in there, but I am not about to divulge them to you. While Power Rangers will probably appeal to quite a narrow audience, those that are interested in the phenomenon would do well to give this one a look.
