Duke Nukem: Land Of The Babes, Sony Playstation
When Duke Nukem originally made his debut in a video game era where first-person shoot-em-ups were at the top of the genre league, a whole new adult audience was attracted by the sleaziness of the title. Mostly male, of course. Five or six years later, and starring in his own film in the near future, Duke is still going strong, still scoring, and still supercool with the ladies. In this episode, set in the distant future, alien life forms have invaded Earth, a land where only bodacious babes now survive. Fearing an uncertain future, the big-breasted population seeks out one man, the only man tough enough to do the job. That's right, it's Duke Nukem. Now, just because theme of this game is very much male-orientated, with sauce and sleaze on tap, doesn't mean that it doesn't have an involving plot. It does. Available to play in both first and third-person perspectives, this all new boob-infested challenge comprises of 21 increasingly challenging missions. Since the game has been developed to offer more of a challenge and more diverse gameplay, new weapons are featured, including sniper rifles, flame-throwers and grenade launchers. Also, gadgets such as jet packs and infra-red goggles are available to use throughout the game. Ultimately, Land of the Babes offers an unrivalled challenge beyond anything in the Duke Nukem series that we've seen before. The coming together of the aforementioned features means that this instalment, although probably not the last, feels accomplished and complete.
