Incredible Crisis, Sony Playstation
The year 2000 has seen its fair share of, shall we say, unusual titles, and especially for the PlayStation. The uniqueness of Vib Ribbon springs immediately to mind, as does the certifiable madness of Bishi Bashi Special. Well there's another name to add to the list of curiosities and that name is Incredible Crisis. Bonkers game-play and a huge variation of addictive games is guaranteed. There are nowhere near as many games and mini-games as on the aforementioned Bishi Bashi Special, but they are sufficiently different to warrant more than a passing glance. Incredible Crisis could almost be a companion piece...with a plot! You play the game as four members of the Tanamatsuri family - Taneo, Etsuko, Ririka and Tsuyoshi - and try to help them get home for Grandma Tanamatsuri's birthday party from wherever in the city they may be. You assume the role of each family member one after the other, and if you manage to avert his or her particular crises, you move on to the next unfortunate member of the Tanamatsuri clan. Each character's predicament is independent of the others and just about different enough, yet they are linked together in tenuous ways with mildly amusing cut scenes. When you finish a stage in your story, you discover various puzzles and mini-games, and the full scale of the tale becomes a little clearer. You'll certainly need of some kind of explanation of events after dealing with rogue wrecking balls and runaway elevators. With musical accompaniment from the Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra and central characters that literally blow their tops if you don't perform, Incredible Crisis is another finely-crafted lesson in lunacy from the East, worthy of your attention because you simply don't know what's coming next.

Madden NFL 07Old Man Madden is now approaching instalment number 20 as far as the American Football games go, and the constantly evolving series is back in 2006 for another punt with the prophetically-titled Madden NFL 2007. That's about as 'future' as this game gets, however, with the gameplay pretty much left alone from last time (nothing wrong with that) and just a sprinkling of new features added to the mo...
Everybody's GolfMinna no Golf is practically a household name in Japan, where the golf title has been pretty successful on Sony's PS2. It never seems to make it over here though, which is a shame, as it is rather good. That's all set to change come September 2005 though, as the golfing title stands proudly in the launch line-up of the long-awaited Sony PSP. Titled Everybody's Golf, the game spurns the new-fangled...
A-Train 6Despite being a very small genre with a small userbase, the 3D train simulator has become a lot more prominent in recent years. 2D offerings such as Railroad Tycoon were reasonably popular, but now games players have been treated to 3D outings such as Microsoft Train Simulator. Well now there's another one for PlayStation 2, promising to go deeper into railway simulation than any game to go before...
Virtua Tennis 2It was a sad day when this title was released for the Dreamcast. Sad because, although a great game, the machine itself was almost dead. We all knew it. Sega knew it. And the game did indeed turn out to be one of the last released for the console. It's nice to know then that, through Sega's recent adoption of a multi-platform strategy, the spirit of the DC can live on with PS2 releases such as Vir...
