Breakout, Sony Playstation
Video game classics are often hard to come by once they are removed from the high street shelf, so what would you do if you were after a seventies classic? Well, normally it would be considered almost impossible to get hold of anything over ten years old. Those of you chasing a certain little bat and ball game called Break Out are in for a treat. The nice people at Hasbro have finally released a 3D update to the 25-year-old classic, and have gone so far as to include a story line. What is happening to the world? Thanks to the addition of the 3rd dimension, developers Supersonic have managed to incorporate number of new strategies into Break Out. For example, a pyramid level can be easily finished through taking out the bottom blocks, causing the remaining blocks to collapse without the aid of you and your ball. The inclusion of a story line is a strange one. The disposal of bricks is not your only challenge; across your journey you come across the likes of ravenous wolves, and your archenemy, the evil Batnix. The multi-player option is quite possibly the strongest asset to Break Out, and with a Multi Tap this would make a great party title. While Break Out is not the classic it was all those years ago, it will bring back some old memories for the older players out there.

It's a valiant attempt that really needs a couple of seasons in the top flight before it can mount a serious challenge for honours. The featured international teams are authentic enough, but club teams have been allocated pseudonyms. Fiorentina...
