Nick Park's creation of Wallace and Gromit proved to be one of the many hugely successful animated films of the nineties. What's more, it made a backward step towards the eighties, utilising the fantastic ingredient, plasticine. As a result of Wallace and Gromit's popularity, the creation of Chicken Run soon came around. And as a further result of the animated film's success, Sony's PlayStation is set to get into bed with Chicken Run. Unlike the PC incarnation, Chicken Run on PlayStation moves away from a multimedia tool and progresses into a 3D adventure, faithful to its big screen counterpart. Containing all the characters, voices and locations based on the film, there are a number of differing genres presented with Chicken Run, including Metal Gear Solid's stealth, puzzle, and platforming action. As always, your mission is to escape from the infamous chicken pens and into the real world of freedom. You must dodge man-eating dogs, security, and the nasty Mrs. Tweed is you don't want to become Christmas dinner. Environments are set in full 3D and give Chicken Run a very authentic look and feel. While still a simple game at heart, certain areas of the game will challenge even the most competent of players. Although lacking originality, the popular story line of the film places Chicken Run high on the wish list of many cinema-going children.
