Batman: Gotham City Racer, Sony Playstation

As terribly executed as it was, the Batman series of the sixties was probably the most popular period in Bruce Wayne's career. Featuring some lame costumes, psychedelic special effects (Thwack!!), and a very sexy Catwoman, Batman evolved into a temporarily trendy TV and movie star. But today's animated series is renowned for its very adult style. So much so in fact, that Ubi Soft's Gotham City Racer on PlayStation has been based upon the recent TV show. Gotham City Racer features two diverse modes of play that are addictive in unique ways. Patrol mode is the simpler of the two games, whereby you must wander through various areas of Gotham City in search of active criminals. Once a burglary is committed you will have little time to hunt through the free-roaming environments before the criminal escapes. In adventure mode, you will participate in an engrossing story that takes place across 51 episode-based missions. While driving the Batmobile is a lot of fun, other vehicles are at your disposal, including the Batcycle. Most missions involve chasing the bad guy and destroying his car before he can avoid the clutches of the good. Gotham City Racer's style is very similar to that in Driver, but with a little less controversy. It's not as much fun as running from the police and the control system requires some persistence, but in essence, the gameplay is the same, and that can't be a bad thing.
