Antz Extreme Racing, Sony Playstation
The little guys return to a console near you, starring in their very own racing game, based on the characters and locations from the top-selling Dreamworks animated feature. With a simultaneous release on the PC, Xbox and Game Boy Advance, Antz Extreme Racing on the PS2 is based around the same scenario. In order to prove the existence of Insectopia (Ant Heaven to mere humans) a major racing competition is organised. Involving all the insect tribes, this championship series lasts throughout all four seasons and involves racing the weird and wonderful vehicles of the insect world. Sardine tins, soda cans and a whole host of bizarre creations must be driven to the max in order to beat favourite characters such as Z, Princess Bala, General Mandible and Colonel Cutter, and reach the top of the racing tree. Set across levels such as the Anthill, the Forest Park, the Frozen Pond, the City, and the illusive Insectopia, the races feature most of what one would expect from a racing game these days. Bonuses can be picked up throughout the levels, helping players along the way. On the other hand, giant obstacles and hazards, such as huge holes, bumps, nails, rocks and oil lie in wait, hindering the less observant player. Antz Extreme Racing is a fun, explorative, action-filled racing game, featuring big enemies, lots of amusing action scenes and imaginative track design. It's also the only game we can think of that lets you drive an empty fizzy pop receptacle.
