There's no denying the Tiger Woods PGA Tours and Links LS of today's hardcore golf sims are a true testament to what developers can produce in terms of realism and physics. But these games often fail to capture the casual, fun side of the sport as Mario Golf and Everybody's Golf have done. Fortunately, Disney Golf falls into the latter category as players join eight of their favourite Disney characters for a magical game of golf. Golf fans familiar with the wonders of Mario Golf will be unable to refrain from comparing the two. From a visual standpoint, considering themes, animation and course designs, both games are remarkably similar. But Disney Golf does have its own personal touches. The presence of Goofy, Donald and Mickey, for example is something Mario Golf will never see. Disney Golf plays host to six 18-hole courses, each deceptively simple in design but tasking to master. Each course has its own difficulty setting, with the first being targeted towards beginners. From there on, each subsequent course becomes harder, bunkers become more frequent and fairways become narrower. But it's a shallow learning curve that's well suited to younger players and the classic simple swing/snap play mechanic is as great as it ever was. There are four traditional modes of play, longest-drive and closest-to-pin challenges, and even a series of unconventional mid-game power ups to spice things up a little. Disney Golf is a fine representation of everything a golf game should be - good, clean fun.
