Centre Court: Hard Hitter 2, Sony Playstation
Midas' Centre Court: Hard Hitter was the first tennis game to appear on PlayStation 2. That was late 2001, and its sequel has now emerged from the dev studios and onto the shelves for another bout of unofficial lobs, volleys and rallies. Devoid of official licenses, likenesses and sponsors, Hard Hitter 2 remains very similar to its predecessor, and as such, most of the production time has been spent on visuals and gameplay. Players assume control of a new selection of male and female characters who, again, have their own unique traits, strengths and weaknesses. Like almost every other tennis game in existence, there are Hard, Grass, Clay and Indoor surfaces to play on, all of which affect the playing style and pace of the game. The 'character development' of the previous game also remains intact in Hard Hitter 2, featuring players who grow and become more accomplished with practice, as with any competitive sport. Players can also enjoy a frantic multi-player experience though the use of a multi-tap in a fantastic four-player mode of doubles or singles tennis. With a simple control system, training modes, and some tough computer opponents, Hard Hitter 2 has all the qualities of its older brother, mixed with a few bonus features of its own.

Circus Maximus: Chariot WarsCircus Maximus: Chariot Wars is a fairly original concept in this day and age, considering the huge array of pastiches, conversions and sequels released each week. Admittedly, there are a million and one racing games out there but this one has certainly opted for the bizarre in the cases of the vehicles and setting. Chariot racing anyone? With a noticeable inspiration from Hollywood blockbuster Gl...
Alone in the Dark: The New NightmareThe Alone in the Dark series is not the best-known video game franchise in the world, but it is extremely popular to those familiar with the series and its style. Originally released back in the early nineties, these games were simple to look at, but posed an enormously mind-blowing challenge. Completing such games was no mean feat in anyone's book. After a quiet period in the latter half of the d...
Castrol Honda Superbike 2000What a great idea. Take one of the biggest motorcycle manufacturers in the world and get the licence to base a game around the most mouth-watering machine to come out of Japan in years (and yes, that includes PlayStation 2). That's what Castrol Honda VTR is all about - just the VTR, races full of 'em. For the bike fiends among us, it's a bit of a shame to discover there's no competition from other...

IndyCar SeriesRacing around a short, oval track for ages might not seem like the most interesting of activities. But doing so in a ridiculously fast 3.5 litre V8 F1-type car can certainly liven things up a bit, especially considering these beasts can achieve 1-100mph in under three seconds. Well, this is the general idea behind Indy Racing - the season is an open-wheeled championship on short ovals and super-sp...
