Dynasty Tactics, Sony Playstation
Spawned from the legendary hack 'n slash series Dynasty Warriors, this latest release from KOEI, as you may have guessed from the title, takes a relatively different approach. While the premise remains the same - build powerful armies and conquer cities in ancient China - the concept of the game is very much based on tactical simulation and strategy. Selecting between the forces of Liu Bei, Cao Cao or Sun Ce, players recruit powerful officers, build armies and embark on the quest to conquer 60 key cities across China. Each commander possesses special tactics, such as Charge, Ambush, and Fire Attack and, through skilful placement and timing of these tactics, one special attack may set off another unit's special attack, and thus create what's known as a Tactical Combo. A series of different storylines and endings await players, resulting from the strategic choices they make along the way. These choices can have a diverse effect on the proceedings and subsequently create faithful re-enactments of history. Important results can emerge from simple decisions such as appointing a commander or dispatching envoys or spies. At the end of the day, victory can be achieved through careful planning. Focusing on the tactical elements and planning ahead can unleash powerful sequences of attacks, capable of defeating thousands of enemies instantly. Which is definitely quite handy when dealing with such epic battles.

Need for Speed: Most WantedNeed For Speed first appeared on the radar as a supercar burnout showcase for the doomed 3DO console. Over the years, the owner of the franchise, the omnipresent Electronic Arts, has tried a number of different angles, but though NFS1 and 2 were popular, subsequent releases failed to set the world alight. The mega-publisher finally found the formula it had been looking for with the release of Need...
Arcade Party PakWhile today's industry mostly requires new games to be developed in a 3D environment, showcasing newer technologies, there is a minority audience that prefers just the opposite. These days, retro gamers often have to go to great lengths to get hold of some arcade favourites, but there are some software houses helping to satisfy these players' appetites. Once such company is Midway, bringing us Arc...
Aqua AquaWetrix sounds a bit like Tetris. Well a bit. AquaAqua is Wetrix 2 and it sees its debut on PlayStation 2. For the uninitiated, Wetrix is a game that involves arranging and managing water as it falls to earth. AquaAqua comes branded as a “Cellular Puzzle Game” which, as far as we can discern, means you have to manage the flow of water into various cells on the ground. AquaAqua takes the...
Driv3rIt's now been five years since the last instalment in Reflections' Hollywood car chase-inspired Driver series - a time that, apart from the similarly-themed Stuntman, has been devoted to this: the much-awaited yet oft-delayed DRIV3R. Not far removed from Driver 2 - apart from a generally larger scale to the proceedings and the obvious improved visuals - the game delivers the usual addictive blend ...

Developed by Red Storm, the original Rainbow Six brought with it a new depth to the PC first-person shooter and has since grown into a series, featuring numerous sequels and expansion packs. Red Storm's latest Tom Clancy game is based on the novel The Sum of All Fears, which has also been rec...
