Dragon Quest: The Journey of the Cursed King, Sony Playstation
The Dragon Quest franchise is very much a national treasure in its native Japan. As of April 2006, it's been around for approximately 20 years and has nearly 30 instalments under its belt. It is also the biggest-selling PS2 game ever in Japan and was at the forefront of RPG technology for the console platform. Dragon Quest: The Journey of the Cursed King is the first fully 3D instalment in the much-loved RPG series. The game is a beautifully rendered and colourful adventure that will have fans begging for more. There is a fully orchestral soundtrack, improved animations and new battle abilities available to enjoy. After an evil jester called Dhoulmagus seized a legendary sceptre, he used it to cast a spell on the castle from where he took it. This turned King Trode into a troll-like creature, his daughter Princess Medea into a horse, and his subjects into brambles. The kingdom was also frozen in time. You play one of the King's guards who was the only person to survive the terrible event. You set off with King Trode, Princess Medea and a reformed bandit named Yangus to track down the nasty jester. He is now a complete madman, roaming the kingdom, and killing anyone he comes across. Two other characters, named Jessica and Angelo, join your group united by the common goal of bringing Dhoulmagus to justice.
