Total Club Manager 2004, Sony Playstation
Coming on like a hybrid of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? and 'The Best Footy Management Game in the World...Ever!', Total Club Manager 2004 is the football management simulation that boasts more officially licensed leagues, teams and players than any other game in its genre. Not only can you take your pick from the biggest and best that the football world has to offer - you can also watch your team play in full 3D, and influence the game from the sidelines with Manager Commands. In addition to the 3D game engine from FIFA Football 2004, Total Club Manager 2004 can be 'fused' with its sister game, thanks to the Football Fusion feature, allowing for teams to be exported and imported between the games. Brilliant concept, say we. But first you'll have to prove yourself as a club manager, and those of us who have been here before with other football management games will know pretty much what to expect. Luckily for us wannabe O'Learys and Strachans, the inevitable deluge of stats and screens is not too overwhelming, and finding your way around Total Club Manager is fairly easy. The pressures of modern management in football are numerous, and EA try to portray the ups and downs with a deal of authenticity. Your managerial responsibilities include buying and selling players in the most realistic transfer market to date; creating your own training sessions; disciplining players or granting them bonuses; dealing with national media and - very important this - keeping the fans happy. Gamers can choose the team they wish to take control of from 45+ leagues, including the best that England, Scotland, France, Germany and Spain have to offer. As usual, everything and everyone in Total Club Manager 2004 is the real thing, thanks to EA's publishing power. Total Club Manager 2004 can also throw up occasional challenges. Missions are sometimes presented to gamers that mean new challenges have to be conquered. These missions include trying to save a club from relegation, or attempting to take a team from mid-table mediocrity to promotion within the last ten games of the season. An ideal companion to FIFA Football 2004, Total Club Manager 2004 is a total triumph.
