ESPN NFL Football, Sony Playstation
With its recently-acquired ESPN licence, and the non-trauma of a mid-development change of name, SEGA present ESPN NFL Football, formerly known as NFL 2K4, for PS2. The change of name, given SEGA's spiriting away of the ESPN brand from Konami, hasn't affected things much; SEGA always had a way with sports titles, and with the ESPN logo attached, it oozes kudos. That fierce-looking fellow glaring at you from the cover of the game is Warren Sapp. He's the intimidating defensive tackle with Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and just one of hundreds of real-life players in amongst all the data in SEGA's ESPN NFL Football. The amount of research and detail that's gone into this game is admirable to say the least. Player likenesses, colourful uniforms and authentically recreated stadia - they're all here, along with well-synchronised commentary and crowd noise. With an all-new play calling system and gameplay that can be scaled to both hardcore sports gamers and rookies alike, ESPN NFL Football provides a polished and fun experience for football fans everywhere. We bet that John Madden and Electronic Arts are quaking in their boots.

If you take as a given that Shenmue is the finest technical achievement of a console, and Virtua Fighter is the greatest reaction-based gaming series in existence, this argument holds up pretty well. Virtua Fighter 4: Evolut...

Police 24/7Coming straight out of the arcades is Police 24/7, Konami's answer to Sega's Virtua Cop and Namco's Time Crisis. A police-themed lightgun game, it's your job to clean up the streets - with violence! You and your partner form part of the LAPD's elite anti-gun smuggling department, a situation that seems a little ironic, considering that you are equipped only with guns, but that's beside the point. ...

Worms 3DVideogames have to be 3D now, everyone knows that. In fact, way back at the dawn of 3D gaming, an interesting thing happened. Team17, Yorkshire's finest development studio, took a quirky game known as Worms down to Big, Scary London to show Sony. Sony looked at it, and rejected it outright. The reason? Worms was a 2D game. Sony was only green-lighting 3D games from third-parties at that time. Anyw...
Disney Triple Pack (Tarzan/Mickey's Wild Adventure/Mulan)Disney's Tarzan Based loosely on its big screen brother, Tarzan has been atmospherically developed, incorporating a number of songs and video clips from the film. The game itself is purely a platform adventure of the linear variety. Here, gameplay entails Tarzan moving either left or right across a 3D environment with no freedom to move in or out of the screen, similar to Pandemonium. Tarzan has b...
