America's 10 Most Wanted, Sony Playstation
Controversy is something we're seeing increasing amounts of in video games. The bottom line is it sells games, often regardless of their quality. However, the trick to obtaining real media stardom is to actually develop a good game and not just disguise a poor development with a politically incorrect adventure. And that's exactly what System 3 has done with the aptly named America's 10 Most Wanted. Whether such a game would have existed - or even been dreamt up - before the events of 9/11 is arguable, but that's for another time. What we're here to talk about now, is Most Wanted's performance as a game. Assuming the role of Lieutenant Jake Seaver - a member of a hand-picked elite anti-terrorist team - you are responsible, unsurprisingly, for hunting down and bringing to justice those on America's 10 most wanted list. The list is daunting, and plays host to some of the most violent and merciless killers including Sadam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden, all of which seem to have a link at some level with terrorism. You task is to gather evidence and capture your target alive through a variety of playing styles. Primarily a first-person shooter, you'll come equipped with all manner of weapons that include Dart Guns, Assault Rifles and Flame Throwers. These are to help you reach your enemy, but once you get there, the game takes a twist. Because you can't blow those on the Most Wanted to smithereens, you'll often find yourself engaging in a round or two of fisticuffs. Here, the camera pans out seamlessly into a third person perspective in which you must attack, block and headlock your opponents into submission. And if you can do all that ten times over, it's job done. But of course it's never as easy as you might think. AI is sometimes cunning, and Most Wanted's overall difficulty setting isn't to be laughed at. All in all, it's a good, solid game with an interesting plot and some very convincing visuals.

Eternal QuestIn a world of A-list Japanese RPGs, it can be difficult for some lesser-known games to get noticed. Square's lost classic Vagrant Story and Konami's Vandal Hearts series are prime examples of this struggle, and Midas' Eternal Quest may also suffer at the hands of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. Eternal Quest is in fact a lavish and engaging PS2 RPG that combines all the vital elements of the third...
Resident Evil SurvivorAnother Resident Evil title, then. Well just before you think of clicking to another page, here's the deal. Survivor is a little bit different to the other titles in the series in that it's a 3D first-person shooter with no unnecessarily convoluted re-loading or usage of items and weapons. Less complicated and more of an arcade 'blast 'em away' experience is truly the best description, and althoug...
X-Men Legends II: Rise of ApocalypseActivision's last X-Men Legends game was the best selling X-Men videogame of all time. Members of the X-Men are a lot of people's favourite superheroes (not ours, we like Spidey best) and now they return to videogames in X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse. The game charts a most interesting time in mutant history. The devilish Apocalypse has gotten hold of a secret prophecy which looks to be the...
Riding SpiritsWe've seen Motocross, we've seen MX Superfly and we've seen Excitebike, but until now we haven't seen BAM's latest two-wheeled offering on PlayStation 2, called Riding Spirits. Verily, the piercing 'rorp' of the exhaust is upon us. With over 200 officially licensed bikes from well-known manufacturers such as Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki, Riding Spirits claims to be one of the most accurate motorcycle ...
Circus Maximus: Chariot WarsCircus Maximus: Chariot Wars is a fairly original concept in this day and age, considering the huge array of pastiches, conversions and sequels released each week. Admittedly, there are a million and one racing games out there but this one has certainly opted for the bizarre in the cases of the vehicles and setting. Chariot racing anyone? With a noticeable inspiration from Hollywood blockbuster Gl...
