007 NightFire, Nintendo GameCube
Bond is back! And not just in movie form. Not even just in breakfast cereal form, or happy meal form, or any other Bond-related endorsement that's going to be indelibly stamped on our lives for the next couple of months. No, Bond is back where it counts: In game form. Now it's not Die Another Day, but it's still Bond. In fact it's an entirely original storyline featuring England's favourite secret agent. 007 Nightfire promises to take players higher and deeper than ever before in terms of locations and gameplay. In a kind of 'encapsulating the best bits of all Bond films' type of way, players operate in the high altitudes of the Austrian Alps and a zero-gravity space station as well as underwater in the South Pacific. At the root of the evil is the criminal mastermind Rafael Drake, who is bent on ruling the world. The game itself is made up of a large variety of missions, filled with furious action, stealth, exotic locations, gorgeous women and, of course, sophisticated gadgetry. Staying true to the Bond license, there are also a number of driving-based missions, so players get the chance to experience a range of exotic cars. Each of the 10+ exotic locations around the world and beyond contain a generous offering of challenging missions and objectives. Moreover, players have the option to upgrade many of the numerous Q-lab gadgets, which we all agree is the best thing about Bond. With the elementary addition of a four-player, split-screen multiplayer mode, 007 Nightfire represents a fine addition to the 007 range of games. Have Eurocom reached the precedent set by Rare's Goldeneye? Play it and see.

Spider-Man 2: The MovieAlways popular in video games, Marvel's Spider-Man has graced consoles for many years, but of course it wasn't until the dawn of PlayStation and Saturn et al that the spandex-clad super-hero was born in 3D. 2002's Spider-Man, based upon the movie of the same name, was once the most successful offering, but that all changes with Spider-Man 2, Activision's next 3D-action game, based on the Sam Raimi...
Resident Evil ZeroAlthough few and far between, there are games that make the GameCube more of a necessity than an option. Games to look forward to, games to cherish, games that remind you why it is that you actually got into the pastime in the first place. Obviously there was Mario. There will be Zelda. And thanks to some kind of recent exclusivity deal with Capcom, there is Resident Evil. Now unless you've been l...
Super Smash Bros. MeleeNintendo's craziest and possibly most popular Japanese beat-em-up extravaganza debuted on the ill-fated Nintendo 64. It demonstrated instant playability (as with most Nintendo games), and quickly became an outright classic in its homeland and in the States. It's success was somewhat limited in the UK, but the game's sequel, Smash Bros. Melee on GameCube, is more widely anticipated on European shor...
Freedom FightersThe concept of fighting for freedom has long been a cliche in games and movies, but a good one nonetheless. This latest action shooter from EA bestows upon players exactly that task, plunging them into a fictional world, following a Soviet Union victory in the Cold War. In Freedom Fighters, you take on the role of Christopher Stone, an average Joe who recruits and leads an army of freedom fighters...
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin SnakesThe arrival of Solid Snake on GameCube can only be a good thing for Nintendo, and the hype that has surrounded this latest instalment of Konami's stealth-em-up series is surely testament to that fact.
