Summoner: A Goddess Reborn, Nintendo GameCube
First released on PS2 in early 2001, THQ's Summoner series quickly established itself as a respectable RPG. Less than two years later, a sequel is ready, and is the first in the series to appear on GameCube. In the beginning, players assume the role of goddess reborn and adored-by-all, Queen of Halassar, on an besieged ship in the middle of a ferocious storm. You're being invaded, and thrown straight into battle, you must defend your ship against several sword-wielding pirates before disposing of the pirate leader in-waiting. You have a few enemies, it seems. The king of Galdyr wants you dead and sinister factions are plotting your downfall. And so your summoning adventure begins... In relation to Final Fantasy, Summoner: A Goddess Reborn does bear a great deal of classic RPG traits. Levels, Hit Points, Experience Points, Summons and frequent battle encounters are all in abundance in the Summoner game world. But that's pretty much where the similarities end. Rendered entirely in 3D, A Goddess Reborn, in visual terms, resembles something along the lines of Soul Reaver or Nightmare Creatures. Enemies appear out of thin air quite frequently and generally make a beeline for you. In the early stages of the game, swinging a sword in front of them seems to be the most effective means of survival. But that won't last. Fortunately, within an hour of play you will acquire your first Summon. When you do, you are free to call on your inner monster at any time to sway a battle in your favour. Such creatures are often blessed with great strength and magic abilities, but all have their weaknesses. It's down to you to determine which summon is best for the scenario at hand. Yes, it's a role-playing game alright, and a pretty tough one too. Take care Summoner, you have a mighty challenge ahead of you.

BionicleThey certainly don't make Lego like they used to. Back in the old days, all we had were simple rectangular bricks, a few little yellow dudes with painted-on faces and, if we were really lucky, some wheels so we could build some kind of poor excuse for a car. These days we're spoilt for choice - take Bionicle, for example: a world unto itself, Bionicle tells of the adventures of the inhabitants of ...
Worms 3DIt's called Worms 3D. We know this because we heard it from the horse's mouth. Or should that be the concrete donkey's mouth? Anyhow, somewhere between Activision's 'umm-ing and aah-ing' and SEGA's re-emergence in Europe, it's not just Worms 3 anymore - let the people know what's coming to them, and tell them it's got a third dimension this time around. SEGA of Europe's firm commitment to publish ...
Spider-Man 2: The MovieAlways popular in video games, Marvel's Spider-Man has graced consoles for many years, but of course it wasn't until the dawn of PlayStation and Saturn et al that the spandex-clad super-hero was born in 3D. 2002's Spider-Man, based upon the movie of the same name, was once the most successful offering, but that all changes with Spider-Man 2, Activision's next 3D-action game, based on the Sam Raimi...
Rally ChampionshipRally Championship has been a long time coming on GameCube, following some eight months after the PS2 version. It's Sci's first rally release for the purple box and it's a good example of what the GameCube hardware is capable of, given the right treatment. Set over four separate regions, including Arctic terrains in Finland, the Grand Canyon banks in the USA and English country roads, the game fea...

Star Wars: Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron IIStar Wars Rogue Squadron was one of Nintendo's most anticipated titles for Nintendo 64 in 1998. The game was given plenty of hype, but lived up to Star Wars veterans' expectations. So it only seems natural that a sequel has arrived on Nintendo's next-gen platform, the GameCube. Also known as Rogue Squadron 2, players can now get their hands on the much-vaunted Star Wars Rogue Leader. A GameCube ex...
