Gotcha Force, Nintendo GameCube
While many beat-em-ups are considered to have a natural emphasis on gaming for kids, there are few such games that actually do this with intent. Super Smash Brothers and Virtua Fighter Kids are rare exceptions, but now there's another from Capcom named Gotcha Force. Offering multiple game modes for up to four players, Gotcha Force sees gamers battling as a unique collection of units which at first resemble a series of kids' toys, but pack a mean punch. It features more than 100 different units including humanoids, monsters, robots and mechanoids, and each is highly original and has its own strengths and weaknesses, which players must use to their advantage as they assemble their troops for battle. With regards to in-game action, gamers can unleash attacks with projectiles or martial arts moves and use jump and sidestep manoeuvres to evade enemy assaults. If a character is destroyed, the player's war power is decreased and the next fight commences with a new unit. The battle will continue until one side has lost all of its war power. The key to success is to select the appropriate squad member as they directly affect the overall damage inflicted upon the player. Victory not only brings glory but the reward of new units. Players must decide whether to keep or trade these units depending on how they complement their existing force. Trading plays a crucial part in Gotcha Force, as smart trading allows players to improve the combined strength of their army and gain the advantage in battle. Trades can take place within the game or swapped via memory card. Gotcha Force's multiple game modes include story mode and a four-player battle mode. Story mode not only offers a single player experience, but unlike most other games it can also be played by two players simultaneously. Four-player battle mode lets players fight it out head-to-head with the game's default units or use their own creations from memory. Gotcha Force isn't exactly Street Fighter or Tekken, but it's extremely well suited to kids, and it'll keep them quietly occupied for ages - with any luck!

HulkIt won't surprise anyone to discover that the upcoming Hollywood super hero remake is to be accompanied by a cross-platform video game release. After all, it's pretty much the norm these days that the two should go hand-in-hand, especially following the recent Matrix film/game partnership. Also becoming the norm is the tendency for a game to compliment the film with a different story, rather than ...

However, when we met him, he was very nice. Strange, eh? Anyway, his latest offering is the wonderfully-titled Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg, a game whose existence was mysteriously leaked by Sega Europe in spring of 2003, when it just carried the mystifying title o...
